Obituary

Thomas R. Reggie Brigman 73 of 5018 Mt. Bethel Garmany Rd. Newberry died Saturday October 15 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Reggie was born on November 15 1937 in Newberry SC a son of the late Tom J. and Mary Shealy Brigman. Mr. Brigman was a graduate of Newberry College. He coached high school athletics for many years leading teams to State Championships. He was loved and highly respected by his players. He was a former member of the Lions Club and the Newberry Moose Lodge 2211 where he served as Past Governor. He was the retired owner and operator of Brigmans Septic Tank Service. Reggie was an active member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School served as a lay pastor and on Church Council and was a member of the Visitation Team. He was a member of the Greater Newberry Area Lutheran Men. Mr. Brigman was an avid deer hunter. He previously owned Berry Town Beagles where he raised dogs for field trials. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing. After retirement he enjoyed fellowship with the Romeo Breakfast Club and cooking for family and friends. Reggies pride was his grandchildren and he was their Papa. Mr. Brigman is survived by his wife Carolyn Sanford Brigman; daughters Cherokee Bellue of Union and Tracy (Lee) Werts of Newberry and Regina B. (Edwin) Lake of Villa Rica GA; son Tommy (Miranda) Brigman of Newberry; sisters Betty (Stumpy) Bradley and Maxine Kinard both of Newberry; and brother Lloyd (Sherry) Brigman of Newberry. He is also survived by his grandchildren Clyde (Lynn) Livingston Michael (Jana) Livingston Marlys (Bradley) Kinard Joe (Lisa) Welch Crystal Welch Jeff Welch Thad (Samantha) Werts Daniel Werts Mac Werts Madelyn Lake Mattison Lake and Manning Lake; and nine great-grandchildren. He was previously married to Dale McCarty Brigman Funeral services were conducted 4:00 PM Tuesday at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Stephen Mims. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Pallbearers were Blake Brigman Travis Kinard Brian Kinard Claude Schumpert Timmy Bodie Michael Bradley and Cal Maddox.
