Thomas M. Stone, 72, of Saluda, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Born on March 29, 1946 in Augusta, GA, he was a son of the late Maxwell Earle Stone and Dorothy McCarty Stone. Mr. Stone was a graduate of Newberry College. He enjoyed a career in retail store management with Woolworth's, Woolco and WalMart Stores and later retired from Michelin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during he Vietnam War. A man with a unique brand of humor, he enjoyed his life on his homestead, time spent at his cabin by the lake and sharing moments with his animals. Grilling out was one of his favorite enjoyments. Mr. Stone is survived by his children, Kenneth Stone (Patricia) of Cary, NC, Lisa Stone (Camilla McMinn) of Saluda, and Steven Stone of Cary, NC ; brother, Bill Stone of Lexington; and grandchildren, Nicole, Adrian, Logan and Grayson. A Gathering for family and friends will be held from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at his homestead, 670 Corinth Road, Saluda. Military honors will be rendered at the Gathering.
