Obituary

Thomas Tom Joseph Burton 66 of Silverstreet died Monday November 11 2013 at his residence. Memorial services were conducted at 3:30 PM on Friday November 15 2013 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Military honors were rendered following the service. He was born on January 26 1947 in Seymore IN a son of the late Hass and Goldie Burton. Tom was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a millwright and a welder for many years. He was a member of the SC Archaeological society and had a passion for Native American artifacts and culture. Tom had an appreciation for all things in nature and enjoyed hunting fishing and taking his family on outdoor expeditions. He loved folk music and the Beatles. To his family Tom was an intelligent simple selfless and generous man but to Tom his world was Tonya and Jacob. He is survived by his daughter Tonya B. Garland of Elgin SC; grandson Jacob Garland of Elgin; sisters Tammy Evans of TN Kathy Stubblefield and Shasta Smiley both of IN and Janie Haddock of TN; and a brother Bill Burton of IN. He was predeceased by a brother Jim Burton and the mother of his daughter Donna Bush Burton Seeliger.
