Obituary

Thomas Bly Triplett, 49, of Chapin, SC, died May 18, 2025. He was born October 4, 1975, in Columbia, SC, to Larry E. Triplett and Tommie (Smoak) Marsh.

Bly was a creator and expressed his artistry best through his culinary talents and his oil paintings. He started cooking early on, where he trained under Chef Mike at Jordan Street Restaurant in Brevard, NC. Bly was a self-taught artist who showcased his art at a gallery in Charleston.

He was a lover of music, classics of the 60's and 70's but mostly old jazz, especially his favorite musician, Miles Davis. Not only was Bly a creator but he was a curator, colleting marvels of sports cards, vinyl LPs, and limitless knowledge of movies and music.

When Bly wasn't creating, you could find him enjoying a game of poker, watching the World Series of Poker, or the Carolina Panthers games. He loved being at the lake and spending weekends with friends and family celebrating various holidays, especially Christmas, where he spent three days in the kitchen with his mom, preparing for the much-awaited meal and festivities. Bly especially loved the companionship his cat, Noodles, provided him.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Linda Triplett and Dr. Samuel J. "Jack" and Tommie Marsh, all of Chapin, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Ashley and Matt Troutman, and numerous extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his cousin, Davis Ervin.

A funeral mass will be held for Bly at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA or Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
