Timothy Keenan Burgess, 84, of Chapin, SC (formerly of Rochester & Canandaigua, NY) died peacefully Friday, March 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.
Born February 3, 1940, he was the son of Helen "Skip" and John "Pat" Burgess.
Tim was a graduate of Brighton High School class of '58, Hamilton College class of '62, and Syracuse University Law School class of '65.
Tim was a long-time member of the Canandaigua Yacht Club, the Chapin Sunrise Rotary Club, and the Western NY & Metrolina MG Car Clubs. He was also active in local politics and various volunteer endeavors. He was an avid sailor, and enjoyed time reading, playing tennis, a bridge game with friends, working on his '48 MG TC, and traveling the world. He was often quiet but had a very quick sense of humor and wit always sure to make everyone around him laugh.
Tim lived his life being kind, caring, generous, funny, loving, intelligent, and gentle. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte "Tina" Alaimo Burgess; children, Christina (David) Hickey, Amy (Robert) Modzel, and Timothy (Kelly) Burgess; grandchildren, Brandon, Bobby, Charlotte, Keenan, Ryan, and Shaelee; great-grandchildren, River, Bennett, and Whitaker; and many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, John "Jack" and David Burgess.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 26th from 4 – 7 pm at Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin, SC. A Mass of Christian Burial (all are welcome) will be held on Wednesday March 27 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
