Tony Wise 42 of Kinards died Tuesday April 29 2014 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 PM on Friday May 2 2014 at Newberry Church of God by the Rev. Wayne Tobias Rev. James Chaffins Rev. Michael Davis and Mr. Mark Hartsell. The family did receive friends on Thursday from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Born on August 11 1971 in Newberry he was a son of Walter Terry Wise and the late Judith Judy Sumner Wise. Tony was the Executive Operations Manager for Carolina Concrete Company helping the company grow over a 15 year period to one of the largest independent Ready Mix producers in South Carolina. Tony specialized in manufacturing and employee relations making him respected and beloved by his customers and fellow employees. Tony was an American success story beginning his career in 2000 as an entry-level driver progressing to a Plant Manager and ultimately Senior Management. Tony held numerous professional certifications including the American Concrete Institute National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and the SC Department of Transportation. Tony led by example loved us all and leaves a legacy of professionalism that will always be emulated. He was a member of the Church of God a member of the Midnight Cry Southern Gospel Group and a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting fishing rifle ranges playing music and also his work. His most special enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Elaine Gresham Wise; his father Terry Wise of Newberry; daughter Natosha Barker Phillips (Shawn) of Newberry; sister Amy Wise White (Dwayne) of Prosperity; brother James T. Jamie Wise (Lynda) of Newberry; grandchildren Eric Jordan Phillips Nicholas Scott Phillips and Dustin OBryan Phillips; a number of loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and special friends Mark Hartsell Brad Cheek Kenny Wilson Dan Cook Jermaine Putman George Gary and all plant managers of Carolina Concrete. He was predeceased by his mother Judy Wise; his mother and father-in-law Hub and Olivia Gresham and special cousins Ricky Hamilton and Clint Hamilton. The family was at the home of his father 1403 First St. Newberry SC. Honorary pallbearers were Employees of Carolina Concrete and Wally and Mike Ammedon.
