Obituary

Vera Cook Creekmore 93 widow of Robert B. "Bob" Creekmore died Saturday November 22 2008 at White Oak Manor. Mrs. Creekmore was born on October 9 1915 in Newberry to the late Osborne Luther and Bertha Hiller Cook. She was retired from Newberry Drug Store. She was a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church where she was a member of Women of the ELCA and was a former choir member and Sunday School teacher. She belonged to the Newberry Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxiliary and served on the West End Cemetery Committee. She loved quilting and had made quilts for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Creekmore is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Robbie C. and Harold Hunter of Newberry; a daughter-in-law Dollie Creekmore of Newberry; five grandchildren Harlie (Mike) O'Connell Laurie (Glenn) Suber and Carla Creekmore all of Newberry Dane (Erin) Hunter of Raleigh NC and Michele (Dewey) Epting of Kinards; eight great grandchildren Ashlin and Meagan O'Connell Justin and Amber Suber Jacob and Matthew Epting and Spence and Annabelle Hunter; and a special nephew and his wife Marty and Linda Cook of Newberry. She was predeceased by her son Larry Creekmore; her sister Gertie Lee Rogers; and her brothers Harold Fred Kenneth and O.L. Cook.Visitation was Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church by Rev. Dr. Robert McCullum. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery. The body was placed in the church at 1:00 P.M.The family was at the residence of Robbie and Harold Hunter 2263 Trinity Church Road Newberry.Memorials may be made to Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church 1307 Drayton St. Newberry SC 29108.Pallbearers were Joey Kitchen Marty Cook Kenny Cook Rodney Griffin Joel Derrick Mark Berry Eugene Merchant and Milton Shealy. Honorary pallbearers were the Staff of White Oak Manor Dora Sue Livingston Anna Rae Smith and members of the Edith Fulmer Circle.
