Vernon J. Livingston, Sr., 88, of Newberry, died Friday, April 21, 2023 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 21, 1934 in Prosperity, he was a son of the late James and Ruth Wilson Livingston.

Vernon was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the Newberry Shrine Club and Amity Lodge #87 of Newberry.

He retired as Superintendent from Copeland Construction Company. After retirement, he owned and operated Livingston Gas Station for 27 years.

Vernon was known as a "jack of all trades" – he could fix anything. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors, but his favorite pastime was fishing in Beaufort, catching sea bass and sea trout. He found joy in catching, eating and sharing his fish at large fish fries after his fishing trips.

He is survived by his children, Debbie Lawson (Dave) and Jakie Livingston, all of Newberry; grandchildren, Joshua Graham, Jeremy Graham (Stacey), Skipper Livingston (Charley), Brittany Horton (Buddy), and Grace Livingston, all of Newberry; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Mary Cromer Livingston.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at St. Philip's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Terry Amick at 3:30PM following the visitation. Burial with Masonic Rites will be held at Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Inman, Colton Wicker, Freddie Harmon, John Bostick, Robert Earl Bobb, Herb Kelly, and Landon White

Honorary pallbearers will be St. Philip's Lutheran Men.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Philip's Lutheran Church Parking Lot Appeal, 2461 St. Philips Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
