Veronica M. Soltys 89 of Springfield died at 6:55 a.m. Saturday July 6 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 8 1924 in South Chicago IL the daughter of George and Mary Fitz Bruce. She married Stanley L. Soltys on June 21 1952 and he preceded her in death on September 27 2001. Her parents sister Dorothy Molk and brother Alexander Pope also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons Stephen (Karen) Soltys of Springfield IL and Robert (Susan) Soltys of Boonah Australia; two grandsons Michael (Courtney) and Matthew Soltys and several nieces nephews and cousins. Veronica has been a resident of Springfield since 2002. Before moving to Springfield she lived in Irmo S.C. for five years and prior to that was a resident of the Chicago and Urbana IL areas. She was employed as a secretary in both Urbana and Chicago. Veronica was a member of Church of the Little Flower in Springfield and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin S.C. Visitation: 9-11 a.m. Monday July 15 2013 at Church of the Little Flower. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Monday July 15 2013 at Church of the Little Flower with Rev. John Ossola officiating. Additional Visitation and Graveside Service: 10-11 am Thursday July 18 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin S.C. A committal service was held at 11 am at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery with Rev. Andrew Vollkommer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church P.O.
