Vickie Gregory Carter 68 of 153 West End Street Chester died Thursday March 31 2011 at the William T. Patrick Hospice House of Rock Hill. Born on November 25 1942 in Newberry SC she was a daughter of the late Curtis and Bernice Ludwick Gregory. In addition to being a homemaker Vickie worked for many years at Shakespeare Manufacturing Company and later at Carriage Hill Apartment Complex as an associate manager. Vickie was a member of West End Baptist Church and was a friend to everyone she met. She loved traveling going to the beach and enjoyed the sun. In addition to her husband Jack E. Carter of the residence Vickie is survived by sons Michael Kevin Carter (Kimberly Brown Carter) of Greenwood and Brian Neal Carter of Charlotte; sister Donna Gregory Quinn of Newberry; grandchildren Erin Carter-Pullen (Clint) Sumpter Caroline Andrew Sarah Alexandria Nathanael and Daniel Carter; and special relatives Jon and Cindy Franklin of Newberry. She was predeceased by a sister Jacqueline Gregory and a brother Jimmy Gregory. Funeral services were conducted at 3 PM Monday April 4 2011 at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Marion Ringer and the Rev. David Lyles. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery. The family did receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry.
