Virginia Hatcher Cox, 75, of Newberry died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at her home following a long battle with cancer.
Born on February 10, 1946 in Johnston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Haskell B. and Ella Hatcher.
Virginia worked for many years as a housekeeper at White Oak Manor. She enjoyed working with her hands, especially tending the flowers in her yard and crocheting. She enjoyed watching television, especially "The Walking Dead" and any shows that featured Matt Dillon. Her favorite holiday was Halloween and over the years she enjoyed decorating her home.
Virginia will be remembered as a very caring and giving person. She always listened, always helped where she could, and always had the time for those she loved.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Cox (Brandie) of Newberry and Charlie Cox of Anderson; grandchildren, Lisa Cox (Trey) of Laurens, and C.J. Cox of Anderson; siblings, Ray Hatcher and Louise Grooms both of Newberry, and Shirley Ann Moore of Newberry.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Larry N. Cox; her daughter, Terry Cox, and an infant son who died at birth.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2 PM at Newberry Memorial Gardens with a time of viewing preceding at Whitaker Funeral Home from 12:30-1:30 PM.
