Virginia Dale Fennell White 88 of Columbia died Monday July 2 2012 at Bryan Nursing Center of St. Andrews. A graveside service was held at Rosemont Cemetery 2699 College St. in Newberry on Friday July 6 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation was scheduled from 11:30 until 12:30 on Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home 1704 College St. Newberry. Born December 2 1923 in Senatobia Mississippi she was the daughter of the late Iris Pressley Fennell and Webster Fennell. She obtained an Associate Degree at Northwest Community College in Senatobia and transferred to Delta State College in Cleveland MS majoring in Education and was employed as a substitute teacher. It was during this time that she married and moved to Oxford Ms. where she spent her time as a homemaker and mother. Over the years Virginia lived in Decatur Ga. Jacksonville Fla. Dunwoody Ga. and Columbia SC where she continued to make her home until her death. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where she was active in her Sunday School class until several years ago when it became difficult for her to attend. She loved to garden was an avid reader enjoyed dining out with friends and being with her family. She is survived by her son William Darrell White Sr. (Barbara) of Columbia; grandsons William Darrell White Jr. (Sarah) of Marietta Ga. and John L. White of Las Vegas NV; great grandchildren Shaun White of Paris France and Annalise Nicole Charlotte Grace and Natalie Elizabeth White all of Marietta GA.
