Virginia Garmon Gilliam 81 formerly of Sims St Whitmire widow of James C. Gilliam died Monday October 13 2003 at the J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home. Mrs. Gilliam was born on Jan. 29 1922 in Laurens a daughter of the late O. W. and Gladys Bobo Garmon. She was a retired employee of the J.P. Stevens Co. and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.A devoted mother and grandmother and born again believer she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Shirley G. and Ed Dickert of Whitmire; two sons and daughters-in-law Danny C. and Lyn Gilliam of Little Mountain and Charles W. and Barbara Gilliam of Whitmire; two sisters Ruby G. Bumgarner of Morganton NC and Frances Bain of Whitmire; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by a son L.E. Gilliam a grandson Charles Wayland Gilliam Jr. and a brother Bo Garmon Funeral services for Virginia Garmon Gilliam will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. Horace Weathers and the Rev. Paul Rowe. Interment will be in the Whitmire Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
