Virginia Senn Jones, 94, of Newberry, died on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
Born in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late John A and Helen A. Senn. She spent her entire life in Newberry, in the town and with the people she loved and adored. She was adoringly known to many as "Miss Jenny".
She attended business courses at Newberry College and later worked in the Newberry Mill business. Jenny married Mims Albert Jones, Jr. and, following their marriage, assisted with the family grocery store where wonderful memories were made.She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Newberry and was always willing to participate in any way.
Jenny is survived by her daughter, Susan J. Riser (Bill) and her grandson, Davis A. Riser (Jennifer). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joye F. Senn along with her niece and nephews, Kathy S. Dennis (Von), Charles F. Senn (Gwen) and John Senn (Andy). "Miss Jenny" was a second grandmother to many. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers John A. Senn and Charles E. Senn.
Viewing will be from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 3, at the Whitaker Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 4, 2021 in Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Albert Allen.
