Virginia L. Medlock 87 of 790 Pine Meadow Road Newberry died Saturday November 19 2011 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. She was born in Newberry on October 27 1924 a daughter of the late Eunice Livingston and Hugh Farley Longshore Sr. Mrs. Medlock retired as a secretary from Kendall Mills and was a member of New Chapel United Methodist Church. She was active in the Silverstreet Ruritan Club the Silverstreet Alumni Club and SALT. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Mrs. Medlock is survived by her daughters; Betsy E. Medlock of Newberry and Eunice M. (Phil) Trefsgar of Chapin; son James E. (Linda) Medlock Jr of Newberry.; brother Donald L. Longshore of Newberry; grandchildren Jay Hockett Troy Hockett Bryan Trefsgar Erin Trefsgar Jeremy Medlock Jill M. Thurman Gabriel Medlock and Kyle Medlock; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband James E. Medlock Sr.; sisters Frances Kinsey and Annette Clark; brother Hugh F. LongshoreJr.; and a grandson David Paul Hockett. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday at New Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hugh Bickley. Interment will be in the Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 PM Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
