Virginia Mae "Ginny" Heath, age 100, of Prosperity, died Thursday, May 26, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 1, 1922 in Neenah, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Leone Sweetland Heath.
Ginny attended St. Marks Catholic Church for many years.
Growing up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and during the era of the Great Depression, Ginny had a unique perspective on life. She found joy and contentment in simple things, in the beauty of the outdoors, and in time spent with family. For the last 50 years, she enjoyed living on Lake Murray, after 30 years of traveling wherever her husband's military service took their family. Ginny was a founding member of the Half Fast Walkers Club. She enjoyed flower gardening and was an avid reader.
She is survived by a daughter, Rachel L. Singleton of Appling, GA; eight sons, Daniel Heath of Lexington, SC, David Heath of Columbia, SC, Robert Heath of Blowing Rock, NC, Michael Heath of Lexington, SC, Jim Heath of Columbia, SC, Steven Heath of Tionesta, PA, Richard Heath of Lexington, SC, and Patrick Heath of Charleston, SC; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren (with four more coming this year); and her first great great-grandchild due in June.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard D. Heath; and a brother, Gordon Heath.
The family will receive friends at Whitaker Funeral Home on Sunday, May 29, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel, held by the Rev. Steven J. Heath.
Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
