Voris Wright Bowers, 96, wife of the late Robert L. "Bob" Bowers, died November 21, 2023, at White Oak Manor, in Newberry, South Carolina. She was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Clayton and Maybelle Kinard Wright.

An honor graduate of Prosperity High School, Voris attended the College of Charleston and was a graduate of the Business Department at Newberry College. She had a dedicated banking career for twenty-nine years including Bank of Commerce in Prosperity and retired from Newberry Federal Savings and Loan. Voris was a former Vice President, Loan Officer and was a Branch Manager of the Prosperity and Chapin offices.

Voris was a life-long member of Wightman United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully in many areas as a Church Treasurer, Church Historian, and a member of the Official Board. Voris was also a Sunday school teacher in the Children's Department for a number of years, a member of the United Methodist Women's Group and held other small group memberships. Dearest to her heart was being an active part of the Warm Project of Wightman, and her training to become a Stephen Minister; where she enjoyed the devoted care of serving others.

She was very active in school and her community activities, such as: Charter member and past President of the Azalea Garden Club. A member of the Prosperity Civic Center Committee & Secretary; helping to raise funds to restore the old Prosperity High School into a Civic Center for community use. She also volunteered at the Free Medical Clinic in Newberry.

Voris never met a stranger and always had a loving smile.

She is survived by: her daughters, Martha Bowers Waller (Lynn) and Barbara Bowers Morris; her grandchildren, Terry Allen Morris (Kathy) and Ron Abrams, Jr. (Lisa); her two step-grandchildren, Rachel Peterson and Jennifer Long; and her great-grandchildren, Michael Allen Morris, Elijah Duncan Abrams and Olivia Grace Abrams.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, November 27, 2023, at Wightman United Methodist Church, officiated by the Reverend Ben Barnett and the Reverend Jimmy Counts.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service at the church beginning at 1PM. Interment will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are: Elijah Abrams, Michael Morris, Edwin Hentz, Michael Turner, Albert Boland, Robert Davis, James Boland and Scott Green.
