William Wade Pitts, 80, of Newberry, died on December 2, 2022 at Hospice of Laurens County.

He was born on March 21, 1942 in Newberry, a son of the late William O. and Juanita Dickert Pitts. He was married to Frances King McCullough Pitts.

Wade spent much of his life farming in the Trinity Community before becoming a house manager in Hilton Head. He later retired back to the farm that he loved. His happiest days were spent on a John Deere tractor or combine, at his fishpond or in his pecan grove, and spending time with family and traveling.

In his younger days, he was a faithful member of the Silverstreet Fire Department, Newberry County Fireman's Association, Silverstreet Young Farmers, and Men of the Church. In recent years, he a member of the Roadrunners Club.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Frances; daughter and granddaughters Cindy, Jessi and Samantha Pitts of Silverstreet; and stepchildren and granddaughters, Maria, Chris and Emily Gardner of West Columbia; Dana, Alex, Katelyn and Tessa Taylor of Prosperity, and Adam and Whitney McCullough of Lexington; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Barbara Pitts of North Carolina and other extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Agnes Strickland Pitts.

Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Todd Johnson at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Wade will be laid to rest overlooking the family farm he loved so much.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a charity of one's choice.
