The Honorable Walter P. Sheppard 74 of 554 Woodland Road died Wednesday November 27 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice House Georgetown. Graveside funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday December 1 2013 at Silverstreet Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Rev. E. Arden Hallman. Visitation was from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Masonic Rites were held at 2:30 PM Saturday prior to the visitation. Mr. Sheppard was born on July 19 1939 in Newberry the son of the late Murray H. and Frances Pearsall Sheppard. He was a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church and the former Mayor of Silverstreet. Mr. Sheppard retired from Uniroyal and was a member of the Boyleston Masonic Lodge #123 the Newberry Scottish Rite and the Hejaz Shrine Club. He was a former member of the Newberry Shrine Club. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Linda Braswell Sheppard of Silverstreet; daughter and son-in-law Cynthia S. and Bryan O. Dominick of Awendaw; son and daughter-in-law Dennis W. and Jennifer A. Sheppard of Silverstreet; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
