Walter William Senn 96 of Island Ford Road Silverstreet died Monday February 10 2014 at his residence. Funeral services was conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday February 15 2014 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Mark Horne and the Rev. Scott Hill. Burial with military honors did follow in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Born on November 26 1917 in Newberry County he was a son of the late Walter Wallace and Lucy Mae Lake Senn. Mr. Senn was an Army veteran of WWII and retired from the USDA as an Egg Grader and Inspector. He loved the outdoors especially hunting fishing and gardening. Many will agree he grew some of the best tomatoes in S.C. He was an active member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church and served his church in many capacities including youth group advisor church treasurer Sunday School teacher Deacon and Elder. Mr. Senn was a loving husband father and grandfather and will always be remembered as a humble and godly man. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years Ella Mae Noffz Senn; daughter and son-in-law Patricia S. and Creighton Jones of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren Amber Leonard of Bristol TN and Lara Jones of Myrtle Beach; great-grandchildren Maddie Poston Joel Poston and Kinley Leonard; and brothers Larry Senn of Newberry and Alan Senn of Silverstreet. He was predeceased by his daughter Kay Senn Long; brothers Forrest David and Harry Senn; and sisters Annie Chunn and Margaret Duckett. Pallbearers were the Deacons of the Church. Honorary pallbearers were Elders of the Church. Memorials are suggested to Smyrna Presbyterian Church Building Fund 32 Smyrna Road Newberry SC 29108.
