Obituary

William Henry Anderson, 94, of Newberry went to be with his Lord on March 27, 2018. Mr. Anderson was born on March 5, 1924 in the Newberry Hotel in Newberry, SC a son of the late R. H. Anderson, Sr. and Mary Lou Bullock Anderson. He was married for 64 years to the late Opal Barker Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a Petty Officer Third Class Navy veteran of World War II serving on a Cowaness tanker ship in the South Pacific. During his service time, he was involved in three major battles. A graduate of Newberry High School, he worked his lifetime as a dairy farmer. He was the owner of Sweet Springs Farms and very dedicated to his Jersey breed of cows and also to his dogs. He enjoyed cowboy movies, riding in his truck and watching his cows. Former memberships include the American Jersey Cattle Club and the Newberry Cattlemen's Association Mr. Anderson is survived by his children Barbara (Ken) Riebe and Bill (Janice) Anderson; five grandchildren, Mark Riebe, Matthew (Lindsay) Riebe, Michelle (Scott) Rush, Morgan Anderson and James (Brittany) Hazel; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Anderson and sister, Mary Lou Weir. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by siblings, Robert H. "Bobby" Anderson, Jr., Margaret Bryan and LeRoy Anderson. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Newberry Memorial Gardens led by the Winston Yoder and Brian Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry and Shirley Longshore, Terry Longshore, Robert and Rose Miller, Charles Adair, Kirk Mills, Josh Long, Fred Kesler, Dr. Boyd Parr, Craig and Selena Morris and Barry Brown.
