William "Bill" Henry Hentz, 63, of Columbia died on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Born on March 20, 1959 in Newberry, he was a son of the late William Shealy Hentz and Betty Ariail Hentz.

Bill was a ray of happiness, being around him meant endless laughter and even better memories. However, his ultimate desire was for others to see Jesus in him. The joy of the Lord was his strength. One of his passions was working with Keepin' It Real Ministries where he served the homeless for 10 years. Having been faced with the same situation for a while, Bill loved and cared very deeply for everyone there.

He was a member of Columbia Presbyterian Church for 9 years. He was a servant of Christ and was known by the congregation to be a man who was filled with the joy of the Spirit and one who always had a kind word for those in his company.

Bill cared for and loved his family dearly. He was thrilled and enjoyed every aspect of being a grandfather to his granddaughter, Loulie.

William is survived by a son, Jonathan Creighton "Creight" Hentz (Lauren Taylor Hentz); daughter, Brecken Paige Hentz Smith (Forrest Lawrence "Larry" Smith); sisters, Ann H. Hentz and Debbie Hentz Davis; and granddaughter Loulie Savilla Smith.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a younger brother, James Ariail Hentz.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Columbia Presbyterian Church, 2244 Sumter Street, Columbia, SC, 29201.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

For those wishing to join the family graveside, burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens, 15127 C.R. Koon Hwy, Newberry, SC 29108.

At Bill's request, In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to Keepin' It Real Ministries, 1037 Elmwood Ave., Columbia, SC, 29201.
