Obituary

William Henry "Bill" Krause, 95, of Newberry, South Carolina, passed away on January 11, 2024.

Bill was born on November 30, 1928. to the late Michael and Lydia Krause in Chicago, Illinois. He was a graduate of Bowen High School and Wilson Junior College in Chicago. He also attended Northwestern University and received his graduate degree from the American Institute of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He married Joyce Parks on March 17, 1950. They had two daughters. He served as an officer at the Hyde Park Bank and Exchange National Bank where he enjoyed helping his customers grow their businesses and manage their wealth. He and Joyce loved to travel and visited many spots in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. A high school football player himself, he was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and attended NFL games whenever he had the opportunity.

He and Joyce made networks of special friends wherever they went. Bill was always ready to help family and friends and was devoted to his family above all. In retirement he and Joyce moved to Charlotte, NC, to be closer to their granddaughter. He delighted in becoming her chauffeur and a fixture at her school events and games. In 2017 they followed their granddaughter to Newberry. Accomplished and enthusiastic dancers, he and Joyce were recently honored to be named lifetime members of the Newberry Dance Club. He also enjoyed playing poker and pinochle with friends, working crossword puzzles, and reading.

He is survived by Joyce, his beloved wife of 73 years; daughters, Candice (James) Willut of Buena Vista, CO, and Cynthia (Richard) Marsh of Newberry; grandchildren, Richard (Carly Beth) Marsh of Simpsonville, SC, David Marsh of Bailey, CO, and Christina (Coleman) Lawrimore of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Caroline Marsh, Elizabeth Parks Lawrimore, and Bowman Lawrimore.

At Bill's request there will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Newberry County Historical and Museum Society or the Shelter Volunteer Network of Newberry County.

Memories may be left on Mr. Krause's tribute wall.
