William E. Lovett, 91, died on Friday, February 14, 2020, at his residence in Chapin.
Mr. Lovett was born on March 22, 1928 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late William M. and Anna Lee Glenn Lovett.
He was an US Army veteran serving during both World War II and the Korean War and worked as the Printing Superintendent for Richland County School District 1 until his retirement.
Mr. Lovett was active within his profession. He was a member and former treasurer of the International Printing and Assistants Union. Additionally, he was a member of Chapin American Legion Post 193, and a former member of the Chapin Ruritan Club.
Family members benefited from his loved woodworking hobby. He made numerous pieces of beautiful furniture for them including Grandfather clocks. He enjoyed tinkering with outboard motors and boats and was a collector of Hess trucks.
He was a loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Covington Lovett; children, Stephen G. Lovett (Carol) of Lexington, Jeff Lovett of Augusta, GA and Brent Lovett (Donna) of Chapin; grandchildren, Rhett, Courtney and Katie Lovett; and a nephew, Johnny Horton of Rockhill. He was predeceased by a son William Everette Lovett, Jr. and sisters, Helen Horton, Barbara Epps, Evonne Matthews.
Funeral services will be held at Chapin Baptist Church 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February18, 2020 conducted by the Rev. Michael Shell, the Rev. Rick Jones and the Rev. Phillip Vaughn. Interment will follow in the church cemetery
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30 PM.
