William Francis Stoessel, 86, of New York, transitioned on to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in Chapin, SC, where he lived with his daughter, her family, and his wife.

Born on March 6, 1937 in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was a son of the late Ernest and Rose Cunningham Stoessel.

William was a US Army Veteran and a long-time member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Smithtown, NY. He worked endlessly as a dedicated math teacher for 35 years in the Commack, NY School District until retirement. William is known for being an all-around kind hearted person, loving everyone and doing anything he could to help others. He loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed sitting outside on his front porch observing his surroundings.

William was a loving husband and devoted father. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Valerie Vacca Stoessel; children, William Stoessel (Glenda), Greg Stoessel (Lori), Scott Stoessel (Linda), Danielle Thompson (Warren), and Jaime Stoessel-Hiranandani (Sanj); six granddaughters, Ashley Stoessel, Jenna Stoessel, Paige Stoessel, Skylar Thompson, Alexa Hiranandani, and Brooke Hiranandani; and sister, Regina Stoessel-Savarese.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Long Island, NY.
