Obituary

William Tate Hancock 48 of 1411 Union School Road Prosperity SC died Saturday February 25 2012 at his residence. Mr. Hancock was born on February 4 1964 in Newberry SC a son of Melvin W. Hancock and the late Betty Jo Wiggins Hancock. He worked as a mechanic for 28 years at American Fiber and Finishing and 4 years with Newberry Auto Paint. Tate was a member of the Newberry Moose Lodge and loved Harley Davidson. He will be remembered as a loving brother devoted father and beloved husband. In addition to his father of Newberry Tate is survived by his wife of 26 years Stacey Bedenbaugh Hancock; daughter Carrie (Jonathan) Sexton of Chapin; son Ethan Tate (Elizabeth Shealy) Hancock of Prosperity; brothers Ezell (Francis) Hancock Allen (Susan) Hancock and Jerry Hancock all of Newberry; and many nieces nephews great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Jimmy Hancock. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brent Nichols. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Pallbearers will be Dale Harmon Robert Cearley Bub Cockrell Richard Hancock Brandon Hancock and Matthew Hancock. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick and Pauline Strubeck of Newberry Auto Paint Tates second family. Memorials may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran 2496 SC Hwy 773 Pomaria SC 29126; or to the American Cancer Society c/o Helen Beebe 181 Trailers Trail Leesville SC 29070.
