Obituary

Woodrow Wilson Cromarty 92 of Chapin and formerly of Amityville and Indian Lake NY died July 25 2010 at National Health Care Parklane Columbia SC. Mr. Cromarty was born in Brooklyn NY on August 26 1917 a son of the late Alexander H. and Ellen Fallon Cromarty. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was wounded seriously while serving as an infantryman in the 36th Division in Italy. After a long convalescence he married Ruth Schulz his loving wife of 63 years. Mr. Cromarty was owner of a plumbing and heating business in Amityville NY where they raised their family. In 1973 he retired and moved with Ruth to their summer home in Indian Lake NY where he enjoyed his time gardening and working in his yard. He and his wife enjoyed 30 years as snow birds driving to Florida or to Myrtle Beach in the winter. In 2003 they settled in Chapin near their daughter and became members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Mr. Cromarty is survived by his wife Ruth Schulz Cromarty; daughter and son-in-law Joan E. and Robert St. Onge of Leesville SC; son and daughter-in-law Woodrow W. II and Mary Ann Cromarty of Indian Lake NY; sister Margie Harrington of TX; brother the Honorable Arthur Cromarty of Lindenhurst NY; grandchildren Jennifer St. Onge Wilson of Louisville CO Allison St. Onge Hodell of Marietta GA Mary St.Onge of Littleton CO; Woodrow W. Cromarty III of N. Babylon NY and Tara Cromarty of Sidney Australia; and six great-grandchildren; Abigail Hodell Jared Hodell Anna Hodell Julia Hodell Cade Wilson and Maya Wilson. Funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Chapin by Father Andrew Vollkommer. Interment will be in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Tuesday August 3 at 1:00 P.M. The family suggests memorials be made to Disabled American Veterans PO Box 14301 Cincinnati OH 45250-0301.
